Several members of the Osborne County Genealogical & Historical Society gathered at the Carnegie Library at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10th for an afternoon work time. It was decided an additional work day would be held April 10th to complete some of the tasks. At 6:00 p.m. work came to an end and a brown bag supper and time of fellowship was enjoyed.

President Von Rothenberger called the regular scheduled meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Those in attendance were Von Rothenberger, Russell Phalen, Barbara Wilson, Mildred Morgan, Laura McClure, Joe Hubbard, Carolyn Schultz, Betty and Eldon Yarnell and Dale Beams. Roll call was an Easter Gift or Memory

Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved. Russell presented the Treasurer’s report (copy attached). Joe moved to accept the report. Second by Laura. Motion carried. Russ also presented bills from Nex Tech and 2008 membership to Osborne Chamber of Commerce. Mildred made the motion to pay the bills. Second by Joe. Motion carried. Laura then presented the bill for the new copier/printer/scanner from Osborne Office & Electronics. They delivered and installed the printer that afternoon and explained the features of the new machine. The cost was $758.00 with a $50 rebate. Carolyn made the motion to pay this bill. Second by Dale. Motion carried. Laura volunteered to submit the rebate claim on behalf of the Carnegie.

Von announced that copies of the two books published by Ad Astra are now available. Dale made the motion that OCGHS sell the books on consignment in the Gift Shop. Cost would be as follows: 19th Century Osborne County Marriages for $18.00 and Veterans Buried in Osborne County for $16. Laura seconded the motion which carried. Dale suggested we implement a 10% discount on all items for sale at the Carnegie Gift Shop to Society members only. Laura made the motion to begin this practice. Second by Joe. Motion carried.

Barbara gave the Librarian’s Report. Currently 94 memberships have been received for 2008. Numerous items were also received. Betty and Eldon Yarnell announced gifts given in memory of their great-grandson.

Dale reported on the website. It is currently a “work in progress” but several things are already on line. The website address is www.ocghs.org.

SER Corporation notified the Carnegie that they will be setting Herk Conn’s hours at 16 hours per week starting March 15, 2008. Von will visit with Herk about how he wishes to handle this cut in hours.

Discussion was held on reorders of the books “Sod & Stubble” and “Sod House Days”. Von will get an estimate on the cost of opurchasing 15 copies of each book and present it at the next meeting.

Laura reported that Nex-Tech will check hot spot information and router questions at no cost. They will then present a bid. Dale agreed to assist Nex-Tech when they visit the Carnegie.

All members are encouraged to bring fundraising suggestions to the next meeting. A discussion will also be held concerning a table at the Osborne High School Alumni Reunion and Memorial Day weekend activities at the Carnegie.

Prior to adjournment Von explained the Nomination Forms for the 8 Wonders of Osborne County. All were encouraged to submit their selections.
