February 14, 2008
The Osborne County Genealogical & Historical Society met Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Library. Those present were: Russell Phalen, Mona Kennedy, Dean and Ester Lamb, Barbara Wilson, Mildred Morgan, and Laura McClure.
Vice-President Laura McClure called the meeting to order and the January minutes were read and approved.
Russell Phalen presented the Treasurer's Report and a list of the current bills. A motion was made, seconded and passed accepting the report and approving payment of the bills. He also asked that we watch for a post card concerning taxes that need to be paid by May 15th.
Barbara Wilson gave the Librarian's Report for January. By the end of January she had received 87 renewals, $750 in donations, $150 in memorials, and $30 from sales of merchandise. Barbara announced that Carol Dixon donated $299 for this years Internet service for the Carnegie. This is especially appreciated because of our new web site at http://www.ocghs.org. SER Corporation notified the Carnegie that it would only pay for 40 hours over 2 weeks for the program that funds Herk Conns training and projects. She also reported that several of the eight-foot florescent lights were in need of replacement. The last item reported was the installation of a virus program by Dale Beams on the computer currently on Internet.
After discussion it was moved, seconded, and passed to purchase, from Osborne Office & Electronics, an all-in-one digital copier, printer, and scanner. The Conway’s gave the Society a $100 discount off the regular price.
A date will be set to complete the paper work for the school photo grant.
There was discussion concerning this years Alumni Week-End and what could be displayed or offered by the Society.
Need for a keyboard rollout for one of the computers donated by Dale Beams was discussed. It will be brought up again at the next meeting.
It was decided to have a workday in conjunction with the next regularly scheduled meeting on March 13th. Work will start at 1 p.m. for those that can be there that early. Otherwise come when you can. Bring a brown bag meal; we plan to work until 7 p.m. when the meeting will start.
Meeting Adjourned.
